Cheers! Our wines recommendation

To be honest I did not know much about wines.. but don´t get disappointed please continue reading! Living in Chile, I learnt to enjoy wines and I was able to get good advice for this post.

You should know that here it is typical when you are invited to a dinner to bring a bottle of wine. In supermarkets, you have plenty of options so if you are not an expert it is difficult to know which wine to buy.

Chile is known for its Carménères, a wine grape variety originally planted in the Médoc region of Bordeux, France and rediscovered in Chile in 1994, very interesting story. You can also find perfect Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noit and Sauvignon Blanc.

Below you can find a list of wines brand that we totally recommend, you can find it in supermarkets or special wines shop:

1) Casa Silva, Los Ligues, Gran Reserva

2) Santa Ema, Reserva

3) Montes Alpha

4) Gran Tarapacá

5) Concha y Toro, Serie Riberas

6) Vino Catalina, Viña Santa Ema

7) Casas del Bosque: It has a delicious Sauvignon Blanc, perfect for this time of the year. The Pinot noir is our favourite.

Cake in the City!

 

You should know that it is difficult to find modern styles cakes in Santiago. If you check pastry shop, in general they sell big creamy cakes. Although, you can find fancy desserts at restaurants, it is not easy to find a fancy cake to bring home for your birthday.

In any case, if you like creamy, for us, one of the best cakes of Santiago is the Tres Leches of Laura R. This cake totally worth the creamy.

Laura R is one of the pastry shops that we recommended. The cheesecake is also good. Another good place is Dulceria Frutillar. Totally recommended Chocolate manjar!

In Coquinaria, you can also find a nice cheesecake. If you like little cakes, like individual portions, you can find good options in Tea Connection.

I really miss a good apple crumble! If you know where I can find it let me know!

If you still don´t have a car or maybe- like me- you don´t drive, it is good to have in your cell phone different numbers of taxis. There 3 good apps that works here in Santiago:

These applications are great because you don´t have even to make call, you download the app, create a user and then you can use it very simple when you need it. In general, in 5 minutes your taxi arrives.
